7 Things We Learned From The Champions League

This week's UEFA Champions League games offered a lot of spectacle. Bayern Munich got their revenge humiliation Arsenal; Manchester United defied all odds topping their group; Real Madrid and Juventus secured their places in the next round...

Here are 7 things we learned from the UEFA Champions League matches.

1) Jose Mourinho Breath A Sigh of Relief

William saved Mourinho and Chelsea from another disappointing result, after slotting home an incredible free kick to earn his side a vital win. In fact, one is tempted to ask "where are Willian'S seemingly faultless free kicks coming from? Willian once again confirmed himself to be Chelsea'S best player so far this season. It appeared Jose Mourinho has finally found a player he can trust.

2)  Neymar and Suarez Fly In Messi's Absence

In the absence of Lionel Messi, Barcelona forwards Luis Suarez and Neymar have shouldered the scoring and creating goals' responsibilities. The Brazilian captain and Uruguay's all-time
leading goal scorer have combined well in the absence of the team's 'leader'.

Since Messi's injury:

Neymar:

8 games
8 goals
6 assists

Suarez:
8 games
9 GOALS
2 Assist

3) Real Madrid The Only Team That Has Not Conceded A Goal In The UCL

Following their clean sheet against Paris Saint-Germain at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, Real Madrid are the only team yet to not concede a goal in the Champions League this season.

If they manage to keep another clean sheet against Shakhtar Donetsk on the next match day, it will be the first time that they have avoided conceding in their opening five matches of an European Cup campaign

4) Arsenal Chances of Qualification

The Gunners’ chances of finishing in the top two of group F have grown slimmer after they suffered a humbling 5-1 defeat to Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal now sit bottom of our group and it’s looking incredibly unlikely that they’ll go through to the next round. With two games left, the gooners  have a  mathematical chance of reaching the knock-out phase. They have to hope that Bayern beat Olympiacos and they have to do the same by scoring at least 2 goals.

5) Arsenal's Defence In the Champions League Has Been The Weakest Of The Last Decade

6) Xabi Alonso Takes Worst Corner Ever During Bayern Munich v Arsenal Match

The legendary Spain international is known for having a good connection with the ball, however, he came up with a comic moment when he gave most football fans one of the clumsiest corner kicks they have seen.
