| The Combating Lions |
“Sometimes I feel as though there are two me's, one coasting directly on top of the other: the superficial me, who nods when she's supposed to nod and says what she's supposed to say, and some other, deeper part, the part that worries and dreams... Most of the time they move along in sync and I hardly notice the split, but sometimes it feels as though I'm two whole different people and I could rip apart at any second.” Lauren Oliver , Delirium
Oliver's words offer a perfect depiction of
what was going on inside my head. It always feels as though I had two Lions in
me: the white Lion and the black Lion. The two Lions are always battling for
superiority. The white Lion is expressive, fearless, and confrontational. It's
always in close contact with my thoughts, ideas, opinions and overall reasoning,
"Shina let them out" it whispers, encouraging me to always put them
under the public lens for analysis, criticisms and even condemnations, that,
according to the white Lion is another way of learning and improving.
The black lion, however, is the exact opposite
of the white Lion, it's cautious, laid-back and self-conscious. The Black Lion
is always lost in its dream, and never wanting to step out of its comfort zone.
It's always reminding me how demoralizing a harsh criticism can be.
The age long battle is finally settled, the
white Lion won! I finally decided to unleash the white Lion in this blog.
My name is Shina Sdeen, i studied History
and Diplomatic Studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University. I am not going to
bore you with details about myself, instead, I will go ahead and introduce you
to my team. I am honored to have some intelligent friends who are willing to
work with me in making this blog enjoyable for you.
