Tribunal Orders Bukola Saraki’s Arrest For AbsenceI in Court

Senator Bukola Saraki

The code of conduct tribunal has issued a warrant of arrest of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, following his refusal to appear before the tribunal to enter his plea to the 13- count corruption charges against him.

The chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

A deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr M.S. Hassan, who applied for the arrest order, argued that the high court does not have supervisory power over the tribunal.

“He cannot sit in the comfort of his chamber and object to his trial in absentia”. Hassan added.
Saraki faces 13-count charge over alleged misuse of the state funds for purchasing private assets while serving as Kwara state governor.
