The trend of Nollywood artiste taking the plunge into the hurly burly of Nigerian politics is growing rapidly.


Coming from a world where they have the powers to make their fans stay glued to their tv sets, to a world where the enjoy the authority and respect bestowed on politician, is quite fascinating.

1. Richard Mofe Damijo


Richard Mofe Damijo, 54, (popularly known as RMD) is one of the best actors the Nigeria Movie industry (Nollywood) has produced. He made his first on-screen appearance in the late 1980s. The Veteran Nollywood actor became the first Nigerian actor to become a politician after he was appointed the Commissioner of
Culture in Delta State, Nigeria, in 2011.


2. Kate Henshaw


Winner of  the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress for playing Leading Role for the film 'Stronger than Pain' . The veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw contested for the Calabar Munical/Odukpani Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), she lost the primary election.

3. Desmond Olusola Elliot


Recognized as one of the most popular Nollywood stars, he entered politics in September 2014 when he declared his intention to run for Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress . He contested and won the
Surulere Constituency in the April 11, 2015 Nigerian General Elections.


4. Bob Manuel-Udokwu


Remember the character, Mike, in l 'Living in Bondage'?  The '2014'  recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards. Bob Manuel, Is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Creative Media domiciled in movie and entertainment industry.
