The Ọọ̀ni of Ilé-Ifẹ̀ is the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife, whose dynasty goes back hundreds of years. Ife-Ifè is an ancient Yoruba people city in south-western Nigeria.


Following the death of Oba Okunade
Sijuwade three months ago, Prince Adeyeye Enitan has been named by the Osun state government to be his successor.

Here are 10 Things You Need To Know About The New Ooni Of Ife

1. Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, 40, Son of John Oluropo Ogunwusi and Late Mrs Margaret Wuraola Ogunwusi from the Ojaja Lineage of the Giesi ruling house of the Agbedegbede Quarters in Ile-Ife


2. He became the 51st traditional ruler or Ooni of Ife, following his announcement by The Osun State government on Oct 26, 2015

3. His announcement came 89 days after the death of Oba Okunade Sijuwade at a London clinic.

4. He is the 5th direct descendant of the Giesi Ruling Family. The Giesi ruling house last produced an occupant to the position – Ooni Derin Ologbenla – between 1880 and 1894.

5. Ogunwusi was selected from 21 candidates presented by the Giesi ruling house for the exalted stool.

6. He attended The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and he is a member of ICAN where holds a certificate in Associate Accounting Technician, he is also member of
Institute of Directors.

7. He led the Government delegation
team to Canada in 2002 for strategic alliances and partnership with Ondo State Government on solid mineral.  which led to the formation of Amalgamated Mining and Exploration Company Limited, owned by the Ondo State Government.

8. He is on the Board of;Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank Limited, (formerly
GTHomes), GTBank Plc and FinaTrust Microfinance Bank Limited.

9. He is into real estate and has contributed to several community development projects. He has been involved in engineering, procurement and construction locally and internationally for over 12 years.

10. His father was a radio and television anchor and presentation
star that spanned the entire mid-1980s to early 21st century in the South-Western part of Nigeria.
